Just started doing a few bits and pieces for an Android game and I thought it'd be nice to post a few things up. First off we have what you might call a cow and a pig...I've not seen them shrunken right down on a phone yet, so there may be a few tweaks, but I'm pretty happy with how they're looking so far :)

Using my original sketch, some layout paper and a couple of pencils, I've started adding more detail. Not 100% sure on whether I like his face or not, but a lot can happen when I tackle the next stage...taking it into Illustrator.

In between bits of this and that, I've been putting together some ideas for a series of postcards I'm planning to get printed in the new year. The first design I decided to tackle was this cowboy. I've been wanting to do something a bit wild-westy for ages, so here goes...

I did, and I'm happy to say that the site is now up-and-running. This fella pops-up in various places on the site, as well as putting in an appearance on Mike's stickers. Nice :)

She's back again!
After finishing off the Mom character for the Momcorp website, I was asked if I would be interested in putting together a set of illustrations, the aim being to tell the story of how Mom takes an initial idea and sees it through the various stages of development, from designing and proto-typing through to organising production and eventually getting the product into the shops. A little while ago, I was approached by Aaron Farr, the brains behind product development experts Mom Corp., to create a character for his website. So I did :)
The brief was to come up with a motherly character who would help clients through the various stages of developing their product. That's her on the left.

Not had much time to post anything for a couple of weeks, so here's a quick digital doodle I knocked out. I was thinking to myself, "If I could rework any iconic character, who would it be?" After some thought, I settled on Mr. Norville Rogers, better known to pretty-much everyone as Scooby Doo's best buddy Shaggy. Scooby Doo almost always seemed to be on TV when I was a kid, and still is as far as I can tell...and that has to be a good thing :)

Here's something a bit different...the first ever highly collectible* Hartoworld art trading card - a bit like my old daily/weekly doodles but made out of vectors rather than pens and stuff. The plan is to put together a whole series of these and maybe even get some printed up. So..enough of the chit-chat. Let me introduce you to Snorb. Not only is he one of Hartoworld's most chilled-out critters, he also happens to hold a number of Hartoworld records for squirting stuff over great distances.

It's official!!! I am now retro!! Not sure that that's necessarily a good thing, but I guess it could be a lot worse.
If you want to know what I'm waffling on about, treat yourself to the latest RetroGamer magazine (#79 I think) and read all about what I was getting up to in 1992 - or more specifically what I was getting up to on the Megadrive version of MicroMachines.
BTW, my kids saw this photo...they said I hadn't changed at all...except now I look older and fatter. Bless :P

Meet Sigh...Tenderfoot's brother and the biggest worrier in Hartoworld. He worries about pretty much everything - including what to worry about if he runs out of things to worry about...which he won't.

The eagle-eyed among you might have spotted that this doodle is 100% digital. I treated myself to a Wacom tablet and this is my first effort. Doesn't feel quite the same as a 'proper' doodle, but at least I saved a tiny piece of tree...

Oh and if the film ever does get made, I'd like Johnny Depp to voice him. Not because I think he'd be right for the part - just because he might still have Winona Ryder's phone number :P

Folk are always stopping me in the street and asking me what this Hartoworld thing's all about. My usual response is to stare blankly into the distance until they walk away...
But not anymore...over the coming weeks, I'll be introducing you to the characters who live in Hartoworld. The plan is that eventually Tim Burton will spot them and demand to turn the whole thing into a blockbusting movie. I'll keep you posted on that...

Just a little post to let you know that there are going to be a few changes around here. Anyone who ever visits my 'proper' illustration site - hartoworld.com - will have noticed that things don't get updated all that often...so here's the plan...
Over the coming weeks, I'll be moving everything from there to here. This whole blogger thing is so much easier to update than the other site, and with a bit of jiggery-pokery I reckon it might just work...The weekly doodles will live on, and I'm hoping that I'll be able to reveal details of a couple of personal projects I'm working on.

Feeling a bit adventurous this week and have doodled something quite a bit bigger than usual - a whopping 8 inches tall or something. As usual, I'm not exactly sure what's going on, but she seems happy enough :)

I'm not going to lie to you..I have no idea what's going on here - I just grabbed a black marker and a red felt and this just sort of happened.

In other news, my older son turned 13 this week - so we now have a teenager in the house...yikes!
