Grace is an illustrator and designer from Norwich, England.
She graduated with a degree in Illustration from The University of Lincoln 2013.
Grace has always had a passion for children's publishing as well as decorative design and typography. She feels very fortunate to have worked for great clients since graduating from university, and is currently working on her first picture book! This is hopefully the start of many more things to come in her career, as Grace is also currently writing her first picture book. When she's not illustrating, Grace can be found obsessing over Tea, Cats and David Bowie whilst glued into to her favourite Doc Marten's!
Grace's illustrations aim to make people happy, to appeal to children (and the child in everyone)
Question 1 : Coffee or Tea?
Tea. I'm kind of addicted to tea. I can't start work without a strong tea like Assam or English Breakfast, then once the day starts I have Earl Grey, Camomile or Green Tea. Tea is full of flavour, gives you energy and is pretty good for you too (minus your teeth!). What's not to love!? I can get pretty nerdy about types of tea, but at least you'll have lots of choice if you ever come round for a brew!
Question 2 : Batman or Superman?
Batman - duh!
Superman is boring compared to Batman. I think the art style of Batman is so appealing to creatives, that's why so many different interpretations have been made of it for film. You fall in love with the darkness of Batman and it's characters. I like that Batman is very much set in its own world, I think that's why it works so well. Superheroes that live in New York etc, lose a bit of the magic for me. Why should fiction HAVE to be set in a real geographic setting?
Question 3 : Dog or Cat?
I'm very much a crazy cat lady. My parents have two cats, Boris and Bruce who I love! The more ginger and fluffy the cat is, the better! I'm looking to move to a bigger flat especially so I can have a cat of my own - which will be called either Ziggy or Major Tom. You know where you are with cats, you have to earn their respect, whereas dogs just love everyone!
Question 4 : Dinosaurs or Aliens?
Dinosaurs - Although they're both really awesome. I got into X Files recently and that has amped up my alien fever, Mulder and Scully are the coolest fictional characters made for TV. I love that people believe they've witness UFO sightings, I find that fascinating even though I personally don't believe it. I do love going ghost hunting though and I completely believe in ghosts. Now I want to talk about alien and ghost sightings...OK...Dinosaurs! They're just rad. T- Rex's have the best little arms. It's crazy to think such a species existed and walked where we walk now. I've always wondered if they were really as colourful as they seem in the art renderings, they are a species that would fit in well at a 90's rave.
Question 5 : Football or Rugby?
Neither. I'm really anti football culture. It can bring out something nasty in some people, i'm all for healthy competition but having police around stadiums because of hostility between fans is ridiculous. Everytime I walk near the football stadium in Norwich, I will get harassed by several drunk football fans and that winds me up - It's 1pm and I just want to buy some milk!!
