Once upon a time...oh, hang on, not that kind of story. Let me explain...
Over the Christmas break, I spent some time reviewing my website and questioning what I do, how I do it and - perhaps most importantly - what value the site has for visitors (like you).
One of the things that struck me was that, although there are plenty of pretty pictures, not many of them have a story to tell - they are literally just pretty pictures.
Time for a plan!
In an effort to inject a bit more narrative into my site, I'm going to start putting together some case studies - each one showing how a character or an illustration might be used in a 'real world' situation and giving some background information about design decisions and creative processes. These might be mock-ups of book covers, or app designs, or even knitted toys (although I'll have to learn to knit first ;P).
As with any good story, each case study will have a beginning (the brief), a middle (the processes involved) and an end (the conclusion). Hopefully they'll be interesting and maybe even entertaining. But more importantly, I hope they'll help anyone passing by to understand what it is I do.
The plan is get the first one written up and added to the site before the end of the month. Feel free to give me a nudge if it looks like this isn't going to happen ;)
