Hello! I was born in County Durham, located the North East of England in 1982. I live just outside the city centre and now work from my home studio, after years of long commutes the fact that I just have to wander down stairs is great!
I've been drawing for as long as I can remember and I’ve been lucky enough to work since leaving full time education in roles that have been in someway creative.
Two and a half years ago I decided to take the leap in to the big bad freelance world with the dream of becoming a professional illustrator. I've really embraced illustration as a profession and wouldn't want to do anything else.
When I’m not drawing I can usually be found in the cinema or tucking in to a lovely big burger or two.
Question 1 : Batman or Iron Man?
Oh that’s easy, Batman all day everyday! I loved everything from the original 1960’s series with Adam West through to the animated show in the 90’s and of course the Tim Burton movies Batman Returns has got to be my favourite.
Question 2 : Judge Dredd or Judge Judy?
I don’t think I’ve ever seen an episode of Judge Judy, and I’m pretty sure I never want to. Growing up I collected the Dredd comics; I wasn’t really heavily into comics but this one I stuck with for years. I think I still have some tucked away somewhere. Best not to comment of the Dredd movies.
Question 3 : Walk or run?
Walk, I think I probably look like Phoebe from friends when I run so it’s only fair on the rest of the world that I don’t. I don’t do enough exercise to be honest but I do like a nice walk on a Sunday to blow away the cobwebs, its even better when there’s a cosy pub at the end of it.
Question 4 : Emmerdale or Coronation Street?
None of the above, I’m afraid I’ve never watched either. I know its not related but I have however visited the Hollyoaks set several times for work purposes.
Question 5 : Traditional or Digital?
This is a hard one, I work digitally 90% of the time now, but I do try and grab a pencil and pad at the start of a project or whenever I can. I’ve never been one to keep a sketchbook; I think it was that fear of doing something really bad on the black white page. In recent years I’ve tried to change that and I have a couple of books on the go filling them with story idea notes and silly sketches. So I would have to choose both.
